!STYLE! or How I Learnt To Understand Derek Zoolander And Other Pop Culture References

A tailor made suit is an investment in you, and like other financial investments in life, you need to do a little research. However, unlike buying a car, you shouldn’t be doing your research just when you are ready to buy.

You should prepare to be inspired.

“Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.” – Derek Zoolander

Not having a unique style, or style preference is something we have all struggled with. That one April 2012 edition of GQ magazine you have, disheveled, under the coffee table is not helping you improve that, either.
Finding your style preference is simple, and less time consuming than you think – search #sartorial on instagram, and scroll through til you find a “men’s fashion blogger” that is wearing what is most appealing to you. Click Follow. Repeat. Repeat again.
Now that you have a style preference, how do you create your own unique style? Leave that to us.

Here is a style inspiration of mine:

“A eugoogooliser, one who speaks at funerals. Or did you think I was too stupid to know what a eugoogooly was?” – Derek Zoolander Notched lapel. Pick stitching. Ticket pocket. Centre vent. Spending a couple of minutes talking with us about the composition of your suit and understanding its harmony can open your mind about how you want to be perceived. It could be as complex as building a layer onto your personal brand, or as simple as adding a flourish to your corporate attire. Don’t be that guy, walking around yelling “The guy in the $4,000 suit is holding the elevator for a guy who doesn’t make that in three months, c’mon!”. ‘Cause all that guy’s noise is just that, noise, and it doesn’t look good.     “Let me show you Derelicte. It is a fashion, a way of life inspired by the very homeless, the vagrants, the crack whores that make this wonderful city so unique.” – Mugatu   We’ve all bought something at the peak of its time, trend, coolness, “… is the new black” and it moved straight to the back of the wardrobe faster than a James Bond quip. This comes back to “moisture is the essence of wetness…”, in that your true style isn’t guided by narrow–minded pop impulse. It’s you; timeless, and seemingly effortless. Not Derelicte.     “I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.” – Derek Zoolander Yes, Derek, there is. #bbrownandabel
